We have some plastic sheets in our line up that make a great choice for creating hurricane panels. The top choice would be our clear 16mm (5/8″) thick Triple Wall Polycarbonate sheets. They’re a strong, rigid, lightweight structured sheet that provides fantastic impact resistance. It’s easy to work with because it’s so light, and mounting holes can be drilled without the risk of cracking the sheet. It’s the same material we use for glazing in our Egress Window Well Covers.
Because of its excellent corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures, it is ideally suited for self-supporting constructions where high temperatures are a concern.
